The first thing that'll catch your eye is its 256-color TFT LCD display, which makes it easy to read on-screen map data, even in bright sunlight. Auto route calculation means that once you've entered a destination, this compact handheld unit can guide you there with visual turn-by-turn directions.
The GPSMAP 60C is pre-loaded with a basemap containing major North American cities, roads, and landmarks. You also get an impressive 56MB of internal memory for downloading detailed maps from optional Garmin MapSource® CD-ROMs (like the U.S. TOPO CD-ROM set) via your PC. A built-in trip computer calculates useful statistics such as current and average speeds, direction of travel, and trip time and distance. Other cool perks include a handy outdoor calendar (with best regional hunting and fishing times and sunrise/sunset times), a dedicated geocaching mode, and storage for up to 1,000 user-defined waypoints.
